Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway has reduced its stake in Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) over recent quarters, despite Buffett affirming he would never sell out completely. Apple remains the largest holding in Berkshire’s portfolio, representing 19.2% of total equities. As of now, Berkshire holds 228 million shares worth nearly $60 billion, having decreased its position from 50% of its equity portfolio at the end of 2023.
In 2025, Berkshire Hathaway received $280 million in dividends from Apple, despite the company’s comparatively low dividend yield of 0.4%. The cost basis for Apple’s shares is $6.3 billion, resulting in an effective yield of 3.8% on that initial investment. The appreciation of Apple stock has significantly contributed to Berkshire’s financial success from this investment.
