Jeff Bezos has filed to sell nearly $4 billion worth of Amazon (AMZN) shares, following a strong second-quarter earnings report. While AMZN shares fell over 2% to $284.02 on August 4, they had previously closed at a record high and rose about 20% since the company’s July 30 earnings announcement, pushing its market cap above $3 trillion.
In Q2, Amazon reported net sales of $200.6 billion (up 20%) and operating income of $27.5 billion (up 43%). The company anticipates third-quarter net sales between $197-$202 billion and operating income of $22.5-$26.5 billion. It also raised its 2026 capital expenditure guidance to roughly $220 billion, emphasizing investment in AI infrastructure and data centers.
Amazon’s AWS segment achieved a 37% sales growth, with an annualized run rate of $169 billion, marking its fastest growth in 18 quarters. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for AMZN’s 2026 earnings is projected at $13.11 per share, a significant 82.85% increase from the previous year.
