Butterfly Network (BFLY) has announced the upcoming launch of its Beam Steering API, set to be released in the first half of 2026. This API will be accessible through the company’s Butterfly Garden and Ultrasound-on-Chip co-development programs, allowing external developers access to advanced imaging capabilities previously exclusive to BFLY applications, such as iQ Slice and iQ Fan. This software-based beam steering runs on a semiconductor chip and enables imaging modes that improve image capture and support advanced imaging AI tools.

On the stock market, BFLY shares rose by 4.9% following the announcement, reflecting a significant 115.9% increase over the past six months. The company’s market capitalization currently stands at $977.57 million. Industry data indicates that the AI in ultrasound imaging market is projected to reach $1.12 billion by 2025, with a CAGR of 8.45% through 2034, highlighting strong growth potential as AI applications in diagnostics rise.

The API supports off-axis beam tilting of up to 20 degrees, enhancing image clarity and consistency across various clinical settings. As Butterfly Network positions itself as a leading platform for imaging innovation, they intend for their technology to be integrated into multiple clinical presets, thereby broadening ultrasound usage in global healthcare.
