Bill Ackman’s Investment in Netflix
Billionaire investor Bill Ackman, through his hedge fund Pershing Square Capital Management, has acquired 3.15 million shares of Netflix (NASDAQ: NFLX), representing 4.9% of the fund’s portfolio. This acquisition was disclosed in a shareholder letter following a tumultuous second quarter for the streaming giant.
Ackman believes Netflix has “effectively won the streaming wars” with over 325 million subscribers, nearly double that of Disney+ and HBO Max combined. He cites Netflix’s ability to outspend competitors on content and expects the company to experience double-digit revenue growth, driven by a strong advertising revenue stream projected at $3 billion for this year.
Pershing Square gained 34% in 2025, outperforming the S&P 500’s 17% increase, and has returned an average of 23% annually over the past eight years. Currently, Netflix shares are trading at less than 25 times earnings, significantly below its five-year average of 40, suggesting a potential investment opportunity.
