Billionaire Investor Bill Ackman Reshuffles Portfolio with Significant Moves on Tech Stocks
Bill Ackman, the billionaire head of Pershing Square Capital Management, significantly adjusted his holdings in the first quarter of 2026. Notably, he acquired 5,654,078 shares of Microsoft, strengthening it as his fund’s fourth-largest position, and purchased 1,844,157 shares of Amazon, marking it as the second-largest holding by market value. In contrast, Ackman dramatically reduced his stake in Alphabet by 95%, selling 5,852,145 Class A shares and 645,921 Class C shares.
Ackman’s transactions come amidst a rising valuation environment, with Microsoft trading at 21 times forward earnings, well below its historical average. In a statement, he emphasized his positive long-term outlook on Alphabet but justified the sales as a strategic move to finance investments in Microsoft, which he views as undervalued given recent market dynamics.
