As of August 12, Brazil’s 2026/27 coffee harvest is 90% complete, trailing behind last year’s 97% and the five-year average of 94%. The arabica coffee harvest stands at 86% completion, down from 95% last year, according to Safras & Mercado. Meanwhile, Colombia’s coffee exports have partially resumed through the Buenaventura port following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that affected coffee-growing provinces, causing limited traffic but no significant damage to processing facilities.

Current coffee market prices show a slight increase for September arabica coffee, rising 1.13% to $3.75, while robusta coffee has decreased by 1.72% to $63. Falling inventories for arabica coffee, now at a 2.75-year low of 236,430 bags, contrast with rising robusta inventories, which have reached a five-month high of 4,514 lots. Recent forecasts by the USDA indicate a global rise in coffee output for the 2026-27 season, expected to reach a record 189.7 million bags, bolstered by improved conditions in Brazil.
