Broadcom Inc. (AVGO) and Meta (META) announced a strategic multi-year partnership on Tuesday to enhance Meta’s artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. The collaboration will deliver technology for Meta’s Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA) chips, pivotal to the deployment of cutting-edge AI data centers. This venture is set to launch the industry’s first 2nm AI compute accelerator, with an initial commitment exceeding 1GW, marking the first phase of a sustained multi-gigawatt rollout through 2029.
Over the next three years, Broadcom and Meta will co-develop advanced AI accelerator chips to meet escalating computing demands for next-generation AI models. The deployment will utilize Broadcom’s advanced Ethernet technologies to improve networking efficiency across Meta’s expanding AI compute clusters. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
In a related development, Hock Tan, President and CEO of Broadcom, will transition from Meta’s Board of Directors to an advisory role.
