Berkshire Hathaway’s Performance and Investment Strategies
Warren Buffett’s investment strategy has led Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A, BRK.B) to a compound annual return of 19.9% since 1965, significantly outperforming the S&P 500’s 10.4%. As of 2024, the company manages a portfolio worth $292 billion and has invested approximately $38 billion in Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) from 2016 to 2023, its largest single investment. Buffett has also authorized $77.8 billion in share buybacks since 2018, using this strategy to return cash to shareholders.
Buffett has emphasized long-term investments in companies like Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO), where a $1.3 billion initial investment between 1988 and 1994 has grown to over $27 billion. Berkshire currently holds $347 billion in liquidity, enabling future buybacks or investments. Despite stepping down as CEO in 2025, Buffett will remain chairman and play an influential role in guiding the company’s future investment strategy.
