Ford Motor Company reported total sales of 175,584 units in October 2023, a 1.6% increase year over year, largely driven by solid demand for gasoline-powered vehicles. Year-to-date deliveries reached 1.83 million vehicles, up 6.6% compared to the same period in 2022.
However, Ford’s electric vehicle (EV) sales fell sharply after the expiration of the $7,500 federal EV tax credit, dropping nearly 25% year over year to 4,709 units in October. The Mustang Mach-E sold 2,906 units, down 12.3%, while the F-150 Lightning saw a 17.2% decline to 1,543 units. Overall, Ford has sold 74,309 EVs year to date, a mere 0.5% increase from last year.
Ford’s gasoline truck sales rose 4.9% in October to 105,771 units, with the F-Series achieving a slight gain of 0.7% to 67,930 units. Key gas models like the Bronco and Ranger surged by 14.4% and 48%, respectively. Meanwhile, hybrid sales softened by 4% to 17,498 units, though they are nearly up 20% year-to-date.
