Intel Corporation (INTC) announced it will lay off 529 employees across four locations in Oregon to reduce operating costs and streamline operations. The affected roles include hardware and software engineers, developers, and managers primarily at the Jones Farm Campus, which focuses on chip design and R&D. Other impacted facilities include Aloha, Hawthorne Farm, and Ronler Acres campuses.

Intel employs approximately 22,000 people in Oregon, and these layoffs follow recent cuts in its automotive architecture division as part of a broader restructuring to enhance operational efficiency. The company aims to reallocate resources to its core PC and data center segments, emphasizing its IDM 2.0 integrated device manufacturing strategy.

Other Tech Layoffs

Microsoft has cut between 6,000-7,000 employees in a restructuring to focus on AI-driven growth. Similarly, Meta laid off around 3,600 employees primarily in its metaverse division, Reality Labs, to streamline and prioritize core AI initiatives.
