Live cattle futures rose 70 cents to $1.52 on Thursday. The October live cattle for Amarillo experienced 7 of the previous 10 deliveries being retendered. The Thursday Fed Cattle exchange reported no bids or sales for the 1,172 head offered, while a few bids in the North reached $240.
USDA Wholesale Boxed Beef prices were mixed, with Choice boxes down $1 to $365.48 and Select up 11 cents to $349.27. Federally inspected cattle slaughter was estimated at 122,000 head on Wednesday, bringing the weekly total to 348,000, which is 13,000 above last week but 21,193 below the same week last year.
