Cattle Markets Anticipate Tuesday Trends After Monday Surge

On Monday, live cattle futures increased by $2.12 to $3.72, with open interest rising by 3,518 contracts, indicating new buying interest. Cash trade last week averaged $246, with some late sales reaching $248. Feeder cattle futures also saw significant gains, rising by $2.95 to $6.55, while the CME Feeder Cattle Index increased by 2 cents to $369.34.

Wholesale Boxed Beef prices were up, with Choice boxes climbing $2.56 to $389.56 and Select boxes increasing by $2.53 to $388.60. The USDA estimated a federally inspected cattle slaughter of 106,000 head for Monday, reflecting an increase of 9,000 head from the previous week and 1,733 head more than the same week last year.
