Live cattle futures experienced declines on Thursday, closing down 32 to 72 cents. In cash trade, southern sales reached $260, while northern trade saw prices between $408-415 dressed and $265 live. Feeder cattle futures fell by $1.20 to $2.92, and the CME Feeder Cattle Index increased by 9 cents to $373.23.
As of May 10, the APHIS report indicated 1,831 active cases of New World Screwworm in Mexico, with 144 cases in Tamaulipas, 62 in Nuevo Leon, and 12 in Coahuila. The weekly Export Sales report highlighted 7,538 MT of beef sold for 2026 for the week ending May 7, with Mexico purchasing 2,000 MT and Korea 1,300 MT. USDA’s estimated cattle slaughter for Thursday reached 108,000 head, bringing the weekly total to 426,000, a 4,000 head increase from last week but still 34,262 head less than the same week last year.
