Chevron’s Potential New Growth Opportunities

Chevron has reached a tentative agreement to provide 2.7 gigawatts of electricity to a Microsoft data center located in West Texas. The deal, dependent on final approval later this year, involves Chevron partnering with GE Vernova to build a natural gas-powered electric power plant that will operate under a 20-year contract.

This power generation capacity could supply electricity to approximately two million homes, signifying a substantial project for Chevron, although it remains a modest step for the global energy giant. The initiative presents an opportunity for Chevron to diversify its operations beyond traditional oil and natural gas, especially as it aims to engage more with the energy transition sector.
