December ICE NY cocoa closed down 0.53% at -30 on Monday, while December ICE London cocoa #7 fell 0.71% to -30. Cocoa prices retreated from one-week highs due to increased cocoa supplies from the Ivory Coast, which reported shipments of 2.18 million metric tons (MMT) for the current marketing year (October 1, 2025 – September 27, 2026), reflecting a 19.8% increase from the previous year.
Rising inventories impacted prices negatively, with ICE cocoa stocks reaching a 2.25-year high of 3,452,949 bags. Meanwhile, cocoa quality concerns in West Africa persist, as heavy rains disrupt harvests and allow diseases to spread. The Ivory Coast reported a 30% increase in cocoa production to 2.06 MMT year-over-year, while Ghana anticipates a 13% decrease to 650,000 metric tons for the upcoming crop year due to adverse weather and farm conditions.
