**Cocoa Prices Update**
On Friday, September ICE NY cocoa (CCU26) closed up 6 points (+0.10%) and September ICE London cocoa #7 (CAU26) increased by 4 points (+0.09%). This modest recovery came after a decline in the dollar index to a 7-week low, encouraging short covering in cocoa futures.
Ghana’s cocoa board reported a significant increase in harvests for the 2025/26 season, with 750,000 metric tons of cocoa harvested—a rise of 25.6% from 597,000 metric tons in 2024/25. However, rising cocoa inventories, which reached a two-year high of 3,384,965 bags, along with mixed demand signals, pose challenges for cocoa prices. Notably, European cocoa grindings fell by 4.6% but North American grindings unexpectedly rose by 7.7% year-over-year, providing some support amid concerns about a projected decline in future production.
