Cognex Reports Strong Q2 Earnings Boosted by Margin Improvements Despite Lower Revenue

Cognex Corporation (CGNX) reported adjusted earnings of 45 cents per share for Q2 2026, marking an 80% increase year-over-year and exceeding the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 7.14%. Revenue reached $291.26 million, a 17% rise but slightly below consensus expectations by 0.67%. The record revenues reflected broad-based end-market strength, particularly in Logistics, marking its 10th consecutive quarter of double-digit growth.

In terms of profitability, gross margin expanded to 70.6%, up from 67.4% in the prior-year quarter, while adjusted EBITDA surged 81% to $93.7 million. Cognex also added roughly 4,500 customers in the first half of 2026 and maintained a strong balance sheet with cash and cash equivalents of $303 million as of July 5, 2026. Looking ahead, for Q3 2026, Cognex expects revenues between $300-$320 million, projecting full-year revenues of $1.13-$1.15 billion, implying a 15% growth rate.
