IonQ and Advanced Micro Devices Revenue Analysis
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) reported a revenue of $10.3 billion for Q1 2026, marking a 38% increase year-over-year, while IonQ recorded $64.7 million, reflecting a remarkable 755% growth in the same period. Both companies are in an upward trajectory: AMD, operating in the mature semiconductor market, and IonQ, focusing on the emerging field of quantum computing.
IonQ’s revenue surge follows a smaller base, with quarterly revenues of $11.4 million in Q2 2024 and $12.4 million in Q3 2024. In comparison, AMD’s revenue consistently ranged from $5.8 billion to $10.3 billion during the same periods. Notably, IonQ’s operating loss stood at $271.5 million in Q1 2026 due to aggressive investments in technology.
Investors are urged to monitor whether IonQ can sustain its growth momentum to narrow the substantial revenue gap with AMD, which maintains a stable net income margin of 14% compared to IonQ’s financial strain.
