Server CPU Market Growth: Intel vs. AMD
The server CPU market is projected to reach $120 billion by 2030, driven by a shift toward AI inference applications, which will constitute over half of AI computing capacity in data centers by that year, according to McKinsey. Currently, Intel holds a dominant 67% market share, although it has declined from 88% in Q1 2022, while AMD has aggressively gained ground, with a record revenue share of 46.2% in server CPUs as of Q1 2026.
AMD expects its server CPU revenue to increase by 70% in Q2 2026, while Intel, facing supply challenges, is looking to enhance production of its Xeon servers. Both companies have seen substantial stock increases this year, with Intel up 216% and AMD by 129%. Analyst projections indicate AMD’s earnings growth may outperform Intel’s, rising by 78% in 2027 versus Intel’s 42% increase.
