Qualcomm Technologies Inc. (QCOM) and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) are key players in the semiconductor industry, competing in mobile, PC, and data center markets with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Qualcomm is expanding its Snapdragon portfolio with next-gen chipsets including the Snapdragon G3 Gen 3, aiming for a seamless transition to AI PCs. Conversely, AMD’s latest MI350 series accelerators and EPYC processors are gaining traction in AI and cloud deployments, showing a year-over-year sales growth expectation of 31.6% for 2025.
Over the past year, Qualcomm’s stock has increased only 0.6%, whereas AMD has surged 84.2%. In terms of valuation, Qualcomm trades at a forward earnings ratio of 13.46, compared to AMD’s 34.67. Analysts forecast Qualcomm’s fiscal 2026 sales to grow by 2.7%, while AMD’s estimates reflect a robust growth trajectory.
Both companies carry a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold) but the competitive landscape indicates Qualcomm may have an edge in investment potential given its lower valuation despite recent challenges in the smartphone segment.
