CoreWeave and Nebius Group Financial Overview

CoreWeave (NASDAQ: CRWV) and Nebius Group (NASDAQ: NBIS) have implemented circular financing strategies backed by Nvidia, allowing them to raise substantial capital as they expand their AI infrastructure. CoreWeave reported a revenue surge to over $2.5 billion in the last quarter, with a projected annual run rate of $10 billion, despite incurring $35 billion in debt. Meanwhile, Nebius experienced a 454% year-over-year growth, achieving $582 million last quarter, and plans to invest over $20 billion in capital expenditures by 2026.

Both companies are leveraging Nvidia’s investments, with CoreWeave receiving direct funding, plus a commitment from Nvidia to purchase unleased cloud capacity until April 13, 2032. Nebius, revitalized after spinning off from Yandex, aims to capitalize on customer demand from tech giants like Microsoft and Meta, although its aggressive investment strategy poses risks amid market fluctuations in AI demand.

If AI spending returns to less aggressive growth rates, both companies could face significant challenges, potentially leading to back-outs from customers on revenue commitments that CoreWeave asserts reach $104 billion. While Nvidia’s support may provide a buffer against insolvency, investor caution is advisable given the high stakes involved in their expansive capital strategies.
