Controladora Vuela Reports Second Quarter Loss but Exceeds Revenue Projections

Controladora Vuela (VLRS), operator of the low-cost airline Volaris, reported a quarterly loss of $1.11 per share for the period ending June 2026, exceeding the Zacks Consensus Estimate of a loss of $1.08. This marks a significant decline from a loss of $0.54 per share reported in the same quarter last year. The company’s revenues reached $859 million, surpassing expectations by 1.10% and up from $693 million a year ago.

In terms of performance, the earnings report reflects an earnings surprise of -2.78%, while the company has beat consensus EPS estimates two out of the last four quarters. Year-to-date, Controladora Vuela shares have decreased approximately 12.5%, contrasting the S&P 500’s gain of 8.7%. Looking ahead, the consensus EPS estimate for the next quarter stands at -$0.17 on projected revenues of $961.25 million.
