Corn Begins Friday with Moderate Gains

Corn prices increased on Friday morning, with futures up by 2 to 3 cents. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price rose by 1.5 cents to $4.09 3/4. On Thursday, futures closed between 1 ¼ to 2 ¼ cents higher, near intraday highs.

The USDA’s export sales report revealed a marketing year low of 116,740 MT of corn for 2025/26, down 31.5% from the same week last year. Notable purchases included 86,100 MT by South Korea and 84,300 MT by Colombia. For 2026/27, sales totaled 1.027 MMT, slightly below the previous week’s high.

In a Reuters survey, analysts projected an August yield of 182.4 bushels per acre for corn, with total production estimated at 15.934 billion bushels after a reduction of 76,000 acres. Brazilian corn exports in July reached 1.943 MMT, down 21.16% year-over-year, with an expected August total of 4.08 MMT, indicating a significant drop from last year.
