Corn Begins the Week on a Positive Note

Corn futures closed on Monday, July 19, with gains of 2 to 5.5 cents, while the national average cash corn price increased by 5 cents to $4.18 ¾. The USDA reported a private export sale of 100,000 metric tons of corn to Colombia for the 2026/27 marketing year.

The weekly Crop Progress report indicated that 59% of the U.S. corn crop was silking, surpassing the five-year average by 5 percentage points, with 13% at the dough stage. Condition ratings dropped to 67% good to excellent, reflected by a Brugler500 index at 372. Furthermore, weekly export inspections showed corn shipments of 1.55 million metric tons for the week ending July 16, a 57.36% increase from the same week last year, now totaling 73.77 million metric tons for the marketing year, up 25.42% year-over-year.
