As of midday Thursday, corn prices are up by 2 to 5 cents, with the CmdtyView national average cash corn price at $4.07, an increase of 3 1/4 cents. The market will be closed on Friday for Independence Day. Additionally, USDA reported a private export sale of 156,000 metric tons of corn for the 2024/25 season.
USDA’s Export Sales report reveals that 532,745 metric tons of old crop corn were booked for the week ending June 26, the lowest for this marketing year but still 49.2% higher than the same week in 2024. The largest buyer was South Korea at 273,700 metric tons. New crop sales reached 940,159 metric tons, significantly above expectations, bringing forward sales to 4.5 million metric tons, a 28.6% increase year-over-year.
Monthly data from Census indicated corn exports of 7.29 million metric tons in May, a 22.14% increase from last year but down 6.4% from April. Ethanol exports reached a record of 184.67 million gallons during the month.
