Corn futures prices saw minor fluctuations on Thursday morning, with prices rising by approximately 1 1/2 cents. On Wednesday, futures closed down by 2 cents, with preliminary open interest decreasing by 3,391 contracts, largely from old crop contracts. As of Wednesday, the CmdtyView national average cash corn price was at $3.84 1/2, down 1 1/2 cents.
The USDA announced private export sales of 150,000 metric tons of corn to Colombia and 195,000 metric tons to unspecified locations on Wednesday. Meanwhile, weekly EIA data, delayed due to the Monday holiday, is anticipated to show a decline in ethanol production following its recent record highs.
