Corn prices fell on Thursday, September 26, with contracts down 4 to 6 cents, while the CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price decreased by 6.75 cents to $4.10. The USDA reported weekly export sales for old crop corn at 314,962 metric tonnes (MT), falling short of estimates between 500,000 and 1 million MT, yet still exceeding last year’s figures for the same week.

Additionally, the International Grains Council (IGC) lowered its 2026/27 world corn production forecast by 4 million MT to 1.306 billion tonnes, primarily due to adverse weather in France impacting yield potential. The USDA noted that new crop corn commitments reached 6.859 million MT, marking a 14.5% increase compared to the previous year.

Looking ahead, NOAA predicts a relatively dry week for much of the Western Corn Belt, with only trace amounts of precipitation expected across several states, while the Eastern Corn Belt may receive between 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rain.
