Corn Prices Decline Even with Strong Export Demand

Corn futures are experiencing fractional to penny losses on Thursday, with nearby cash prices at $3.83 per bushel, down 1 cent. The USDA reported private export sales of 500,302 metric tons (MT) of corn, including 260,000 MT sold to Japan during the reporting period.

USDA Export Sales data revealed a total of 1.14 million metric tons (MMT) of corn sold for the 2025/26 marketing year, exceeding analysts’ estimates of 0.6 to 1.4 MMT and marking an increase of over three times the previous week’s sales. This figure is also 11.3% higher than the same week last year.

In Brazil, CONAB’s January report projected corn production for the 2025/26 season at 138.87 MMT, nearly unchanged from December’s 138.88 MMT.
