Corn Prices Decline on Tuesday Morning Amidst Ratings Decrease

Corn prices have slightly declined, with futures down 1 to 1.25 cents in Tuesday morning trading, following a Monday session where prices rose by 3 to 7.75 cents. The national average cash price increased by 7.75 cents to $4.63. As of August 23, 86% of the U.S. corn crop is in the dough stage, with 45% dented and 6% mature. Crop condition ratings have fallen, now at 57% good to excellent, down 3% from the previous week.

In export activities, corn shipments for the week ending August 20 totaled 1.296 million metric tons (MMT), marking a 33.32% decline from the previous week and a 3.16% drop compared to the same week last year. Mexico remains the largest destination, receiving 387,748 MT, followed by Japan with 306,842 MT and Colombia with 101,360 MT. Total corn exports for the marketing year have reached 82.28 MMT, which is 25.51% higher than the same period last year.

Additionally, Agrural’s estimates indicate that as of Thursday, 92% of the second corn crop for 2025/26 has been harvested, trailing the average of 98%, while the first corn crop for 2026/27 is estimated to be 2% planted, behind last year’s 3.2% pace.
