Corn Prices Dip Amid International Crop Updates

Market Trends Show Mixed Signals for Corn Futures

Corn prices are falling once again as trading continues on Thursday morning, showing losses of 1 to 2 cents. On Wednesday, corn traders attempted to maintain support despite downward pressure from a weaker wheat market and a stronger U.S. dollar. Contracts fell between 1 ½ and 3 ¾ cents that day. Open interest climbed by 41,278 contracts across the board, except for December, which saw a decrease of 39,485 contracts. According to cmdtyView, the national average cash corn price dropped 1 ¾ cents to $4.02 ¾ per bushel.

It is important to note that EIA data will be postponed until Thursday morning due to a federal holiday earlier in the week.

Global Crop Estimates Show Variability

In Brazil, CONAB has slightly increased their 2024/25 corn crop estimate by 0.07 million metric tons (MMT) to 119.81 MMT in this month’s update.

Conversely, Argentina’s Rosario Grain Exchange has revised down its corn crop estimate to a range of 50 to 51 MMT, down 1 MMT from a prior estimate.

Corn Futures Prices as of Recent Trading

For December 2024, corn closed at $4.26 ½, reflecting a decline of 2 cents. Currently, it is trading down 1 ¼ cents.

The nearby cash market recorded $4.02 ¾, lower by 1 ¾ cents.

Meanwhile, March 2025 corn settled at $4.37 ½, down 2 ¾ cents, and currently shows a further decrease of 1 ¼ cents.

May 2025 corn closed at $4.44 ¼, down 3 cents, with a current drop of 1 cent.
