Corn Prices Drop After Reaching Early September Peaks

Corn prices on the Chicago Board of Trade are experiencing a decrease, with December futures currently down 9 cents from their overnight high as of Tuesday morning. As of August 30, the U.S. corn crop report indicated that 62% of the corn was in the dough stage, with 13% mature and a steady 47% rated in good to excellent condition.

Export inspections report from Monday highlighted corn shipments at 1.496 million metric tons (MMT) for the week ending August 27, marking a 13.11% increase from the previous week. The top importers included Mexico, receiving 510,453 MT, South Korea (264,474 MT), and Japan (173,086 MT). Total corn exports for the marketing year now stand at 83.81 MMT, representing a 25.14% increase compared to the same period last year.

In Brazilian agriculture, the 2025/26 second corn crop in the center-south is reported to be 96% harvested, lagging behind last year’s pace, while the first crop for 2026/27 is currently 11% planted.
