Corn prices saw a rise of 1 to 2 cents on Monday morning, following a decline of 1 to 2 cents across most contracts last Friday, with December futures dropping 4 ¼ cents last week. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price fell by 1 ¾ cents to $3.88. Open interest dropped by 10,578 contracts as 26,776 contracts exited December futures.
The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange reported that the Argentine corn crop is 36% planted, which is 2.7 percentage points lower than last year, with 79% rated as good to excellent. In Brazil, AgRural estimated the first corn crop in the south-center region at 72% planted, consistent with the same time last year.
The USDA is set to release its Crop Production and WASDE reports on Friday.
