Corn Prices Surge Following Long Weekend Boost

Corn futures saw an increase following the Easter holiday, with contracts rising between 1 ¾ to 2 ½ cents. The national average Cash Corn price is reported at $4.14 1/4 per bushel, which is up 1 ¾ cents.

The inaugural Crop Progress report for 2026 indicated that 3% of the U.S. corn crop has been planted, surpassing the 2% average from the last five years, with all reporting states ahead of normal planting schedules.

For the week ending April 2, the Export Inspections report indicated 2.002 million metric tons (MMT) of corn shipped, marking a 24.09% increase from the same week last year. Mexico was the largest recipient at 540,498 MT, contributing to a cumulative total of 48.47 MMT shipped since September 1, a 35.82% increase year-over-year.
