Corn futures experienced declines of 1 to 5.5 cents on Monday, with the CmdtyView national average cash corn price falling by 5.25 cents to $4.79. The NASS Crop Progress report, released on September 27, indicated that 72% of the U.S. corn crop is mature, with the harvest currently 18% complete—matching the average pace. Crop conditions remain steady at 57% rated as good to excellent.
In export activities, USDA’s latest report showed corn shipments totaling 1.566 million metric tons (MMT) for the week ending September 24, down 20.11% from the prior week but up 1.73% from the same week last year. Mexico led as the largest import destination with 510,846 MT, followed by South Korea and Japan. Additionally, Brazil’s first corn crop planting reached 34% completion by Thursday, ahead of last year’s 32% pace.
Looking ahead, a Bloomberg survey anticipates U.S. corn stocks at 1.911 billion bushels as of September 1, significantly higher than last year’s 1.551 billion but slightly below current estimates for the 2025/26 corn ending stocks.
