Cotton futures have increased by 29 to 40 points on Turnaround Tuesday, while the US dollar index decreased to $97.460. As of the latest NASS Crop Progress report, 67% of the US cotton crop has bolls opening, slightly below the 69% average, with the harvest at 16%—on pace with the average. Cotton conditions remain at 47% good/excellent, with Texas ratings up 2 points and Georgia down 2 points.
A total of 316 sales were recorded in Monday’s online auction from The Seam, averaging 63.70 cents/lb. The Cotlook A Index remained steady at 77.70 cents, and USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) decreased by 41 points to 54.38 cents/lb. Certified ICE cotton stocks stood at 15,474 bales as of September 29.
Current cotton prices include: Oct 25 at 63.05 cents (down 90 points), Dec 25 at 65.88 cents (up 38 points), and Mar 26 at 67.73 cents (up 29 points).
