Cotton Experiences Decline on Thursday

On Thursday morning, cotton prices fell by 16 to 21 points across most front-month futures, with contracts ending the session down 80 to 90 points. The price for December 2025 cotton closed at 65.12 cents per pound, while March 2026 and May 2026 cotton closed at 66.69 and 67.91 cents, down 82 and 80 points respectively. Crude oil futures dropped by 17 cents per barrel to $60.31, and the US dollar index rose by $0.333 to $99.355.

Following a meeting between Presidents Trump and Xi of China, Trump announced that China is set to purchase significant amounts of agricultural goods, although specifics regarding cotton were not provided. Tariffs on US agricultural products are anticipated to be lifted.

In an online auction on Wednesday, 8,719 bales of cotton were sold at an average price of 60.14 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index increased by 45 points to 76.40 cents on October 29, with ICE certified cotton stocks remaining steady at 18,052 bales.
