Cotton futures declined by 8 to 14 points on Thursday, with prices at 64.85 cents per pound for March contracts, 66.41 cents for May, and 67.83 cents for July. Crude oil futures fell by $2.97 to $59.05 per barrel, while the US dollar index dropped by 0.248 to 98.155.
In the week ending January 8, U.S. export sales of upland cotton reached 339,724 running bales, marking a marketing year high and more than tripling the previous week’s figures. Shipments totaled 156,104 running bales, the highest in 11 weeks. The Adjusted World Price was updated to 50.97 cents per pound, reflecting a 21-point increase from the previous week.
