Cotton Prices Climb as Thursday Trading Concludes

Cotton futures experienced slight gains on Thursday, with prices closing 1 to 11 points higher. The October contract fell 21 points to close at 63.83 cents/lb. The US dollar index rose by $0.617 to $98.135, and crude oil increased by 25 cents.

Export Sales data for the week ending September 18 reported the lowest marketing year sales at 86,094 RB, with India purchasing 27,300 RB and Turkey acquiring 22,300 RB. Cotton shipments reached a three-week high of 137,223 RB, with Vietnam receiving 41,700 RB and India 21,000 RB.

In related trading, the Cotlook A Index increased by 30 points to 78.15 cents/lb, while ICE cotton stocks remained steady at 15,474 bales as of September 24. USDA’s Adjusted World Price dropped 41 points to 54.38 cents/lb.
