Cotton Prices Climb on Tuesday

On Tuesday, cotton futures are trading down by 21 to 50 points. The USDA updated its cotton balance sheet, maintaining US stocks at 4.9 million bales and lowering the average farm price by 50 points to 63 cents/lb. In February, 162,950 RB were ginned, bringing the season’s total to 14.124 million RB, 20.23% higher than last year.

Globally, the 2024/25 cotton stocks decreased by 80,000 bales to 78.33 million bales, mainly due to a 200,000 bale reduction in Brazil. The online auction from The Seam reported 4,756 bales sold at an average price of 61.17 cents/lb, while the Cotlook A Index rose by 75 points to 77.70 cents/lb. The USDA reduced the Adjusted World Price (AWP) by 201 points to 51.88 cents/lb.

As of the latest figures, May 25 Cotton is at 66.21 cents/lb (up 21 points), July 25 Cotton is at 67.42 cents/lb (up 21 points), and October 25 Cotton is at 69.11 cents/lb (up 49 points).
