Cotton prices increased on Thursday, with futures rising between 81 and 139 points across most contracts. The October 2026 contract closed at 79.41 cents per pound, up 139 points, while December 2026 and March 2027 contracts closed at 80.67 cents and 82.25 cents, respectively. The Adjusted World Price also rose by 84 points to 64.66 cents per pound.
In export activity for the week ending July 23, 29,719 bales of cotton were sold for the 2025/26 marketing year, marking a low for the season. However, 352,447 bales were reported for new crop business, a record high for the marketing year. Vietnam was the largest buyer, purchasing 245,500 bales, while India bought 42,200 bales. Total shipments reached 233,795 bales, predominantly to Vietnam and Pakistan.
The Cotlook A Index decreased by 35 points to 89.75 cents on July 29, with ICE certified cotton stocks remaining steady at 90,699 bales.
