Cotton futures ended the Thursday session lower, with October contracts down 24 points at 66.17. Trading activity was thin, and the US dollar index decreased by $0.383 to 98.045. Crude oil futures also fell, down $1.31.
According to USDA’s Export Sales report for the week of August 7, a total of 241,982 RB of cotton was sold, with Vietnam being the top buyer at 119,200 RB. Actual shipments reached 142,593 RB, led by Vietnam at 34,800 RB, followed by Pakistan at 26,200 RB.
The Seam reported 353 bales sold at an average price of 60.73 cents per pound, while the Cotlook A Index rose by 175 points to 79.95 cents as of August 13. ICE cotton stocks remained steady at 18,242 bales, and USDA’s Adjusted World Price increased by 66 points to 55.05 cents per pound.
