Cotton prices fell by 22 to 28 points on Friday, following a decline of 9 to 25 points on Thursday. As of the latest data, March 26 Cotton closed at 63.48 cents per pound, down 25 points, while May 26 and July 26 Cotton closed at 65.37 and 67.01 cents per pound, down 9 and 9 points, respectively. The Adjusted World Price decreased to 50.23 cents per pound, down 76 points from the previous week.
In the week ending January 22, U.S. export sales for cotton totaled 203,666 running bales (RB), marking a three-week low. Major export destinations included Pakistan with 52,000 RB, Vietnam with 45,600 RB, and China with 38,800 RB. Shipments for the same week reached 257,036 RB, the highest level since May, with significant deliveries to Vietnam (114,400 RB) and Turkey (37,600 RB).
Census trade data indicated that cotton exports (excluding linters) for November were at 539,059 bales, the lowest in four years. In the online auction conducted by The Seam, cotton sold for 59.34 cents per pound across 9,834 bales, while the Cotlook A Index rose by 85 points to 74.15 cents on January 27.
