Cotton futures experienced losses on Thursday, with July contracts down 85 points to close at 76.05 cents/lb, despite being up 311 points for the week. The USDA reported 177,098 bales of cotton sold for the 2025/26 season during the week of June 11, a three-week low but nearly triple the sales from the same week last year. Pakistan was the largest buyer, purchasing 76,600 bales, while Vietnam was the top destination for shipments, which totaled 250,964 bales, an increase of 6.23% from the previous year.
The Seam reported the sale of 6,099 bales at an average price of 74.41 cents, while ICE certified cotton stocks decreased by 1,677 bales to a total of 191,022 bales. In related markets, crude oil fell to $76.64 per barrel, and the US dollar index rose to $100.800. The market will observe Juneteenth on Friday, reopening on Sunday night.
