Cotton Prices Show Mixed Movement Amid Market Changes
Cotton prices are showing gains between 85 to 96 points as of midday Monday. Meanwhile, crude oil has increased by $0.33 per barrel. In currency markets, the US dollar index has decreased by 0.666, settling at 100.280.
CFTC Report Highlights Manager Activity
The weekly CFTC report indicates that money managers in cotton futures and options added 8,039 contracts to their net short positions as of May 13th. This brings their total short positions to 29,088 contracts by the close on Tuesday.
Market Sales and Indexes Remain Steady
The Seam reported 707 bales sold on May 16 at an average price of 56.15 cents. The Cotlook A Index remained unchanged on Friday at 77.25. Certified ICE cotton stocks held steady on May 16, with 34,153 bales certified. The USDA’s Adjusted World Price (AWP) fell by 91 points on Thursday, now at 53.90 cents per pound.

Jul 25 Cotton is currently priced at 65.85, reflecting an increase of 96 points.
Oct 25 Cotton is at 67.58, down 69 points.
Dec 25 Cotton stands at 68.56, up 89 points.
