Cotton Prices on the Rise This Monday

Cotton futures experienced increases between 22 to 79 points across most contracts on Monday, with front months leading the gains. The May 26 Cotton contract closed at 71.67, up 75 points, while July 26 and December 26 Cotton contracts closed at 73.84 (up 79 points) and 75.75 (up 77 points), respectively.

As of Sunday, 5% of the US cotton crop has been planted, matching the five-year average and showing a 1% increase compared to the same date last year. The Seam reported 651 bales sold at an average price of 63.37 cents/lb on Thursday. Additionally, ICE certified cotton stocks decreased by 1,424 bales, bringing the total to 113,241 bales. The Adjusted World Price increased by 252 points to 56.99 cents/lb.
