Cotton Prices Rise as Midday Approaches

On Friday, cotton futures gained 13 to 42 points across most contracts, with December 2025 cotton at 61.48 cents/lb, March 2026 at 64.27 cents/lb, and May 2026 at 65.46 cents/lb. Crude oil futures increased by 50 cents to $58.56 per barrel, while the US dollar index rose $0.027 to $100.140.

As of October 7, speculative funds increased their net short position in cotton futures by 11,586 contracts, bringing the total to 76,326 contracts, according to delayed Commitment of Traders data due to the government shutdown. An online auction revealed that 4,368 bales of cotton sold at an average price of 60.77 cents/lb.

The Adjusted World Price was updated to 50.80 cents/lb, down 103 points from the previous week and in effect through Thursday. ICE certified cotton stocks remained steady at 20,344 bales.
