Cotton Prices Surge on Tuesday

Cotton futures showed positive movement on March 17, with contracts rising between 48 to 70 points; deferred contracts increased by 5 to 18 points. The May 2026 Cotton contract closed at 68.77 cents/lb, up 58 points, while July 2026 and December 2026 contracts closed at 70.75 cents/lb (up 69 points) and 72.65 cents/lb (up 67 points), respectively.

On March 16, The Seam reported sales of 17,379 bales, averaging 63.71 cents/lb. Crude oil prices increased by $2.52, settling at $96.02, while the U.S. dollar index dipped by $0.158 to 99.310. The Cotlook A Index rose by 70 points to 76.45 cents, and ICE certified cotton stocks remained unchanged at 116,789 bales. The Adjusted World Price saw a slight increase of 6 points to 51.50 cents/lb.
