Cotton Sees Varied Movement During Wednesday Afternoon Trading

Cotton futures are experiencing mixed trading, with contracts hovering within 10 points of unchanged. As of midday, crude oil futures have decreased by 20 cents per barrel, settling at $57.75, while the US dollar index has risen by $0.120 to reach $98.075.

For the week ending December 18, export sales data revealed that 182,680 running bales (RB) of cotton were sold, a decline from the previous week’s marketing year high. However, cotton shipments totaled 146,915 RB, marking an 8-week high. Additionally, The Seam’s online auction recorded sales of 14,459 bales on December 30 at an average price of 60.13 cents per pound.

Current cotton futures include March 2026 at 64.24 cents (down 8 points), May 2026 at 65.64 cents (unchanged), and July 2026 at 66.86 cents (up 1 point). The Adjusted World Price has been updated to 50.02 cents per pound, reflecting a slight increase of 3 points from the prior week.
