Sealing a monumental deal, Digital Realty Trust (DLR) proudly announced its selection as the hosting site for the NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD, a formidable AI supercomputer, at its cutting-edge data center in Copenhagen, Denmark.

A new era dawns upon Denmark’s research and innovation landscape, fueled by the synergy between Digital Realty, the Novo Nordisk Foundation, the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark, and NVIDIA.

A Nexus for Advancement

Fortified by Digital Realty’s state-of-the-art, AI-ready infrastructure, the National Center for AI Innovation emerges from this collaboration, poised to accelerate breakthroughs in healthcare, life sciences, and climate research.

Leading researchers from Denmark’s public and private sectors will harness the power of a groundbreaking NVIDIA-powered AI supercomputer, along with access to NVIDIA software platforms, training, and expertise.

Power Unleashed

The NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD stands as a formidable force, boasting 191 NVIDIA DGX H100 systems, over 1,500 NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs, and connectivity through the NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking platform. Furthermore, the supercomputer is equipped with NVIDIA AI Enterprise software for pre-trained models, optimized frameworks, and accelerated data science software libraries.

Chris Sharp, the chief technology officer of Digital Realty, envisions the data center not just as an accelerant for AI adoption but as a beacon of innovation convergence, where enterprises and data intersect.

Commitment to Progress

In a show of dedication to AI integration, Digital Realty introduced a high-density colocation solution on its PlatformDIGITAL® global data center platform last year. Moreover, its KIX13 data center in Osaka, Japan, became the first NVIDIA DGX H100 certified facility worldwide, as part of the NVIDIA DGX-Ready Data Center program.

Notably, Digital Realty’s Copenhagen data centers have been powered entirely by renewable energy since 2020 and are set to house the NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD. Committed to the EU Climate Neutral Data Center Pact, Digital Realty aims for carbon neutrality in its European data centers by 2030, with over one gigawatt of renewable energy already secured globally.

Despite having a diversified and high-quality customer base, Digital Realty faces competitive pricing pressure and challenges due to its debt burden and high interest rates.

Stocks on the Radar

For investors eyeing the REIT sector, better-ranked alternatives include Lamar Advertising (LAMR) and Welltower (WELL), each sporting a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) currently.

Tracking estimates, analysts project Lamar Advertising’s 2024 funds from operations (FFO) per share to climb to $7.74, while Welltower’s current-year FFO per share estimate nudges slightly upward to $4.03.

FFO stands as a pivotal metric in evaluating REIT performance.
