Google Launches Veo 2 for Gemini Advanced Users After Limited Preview
On Tuesday, Alphabet Inc.’s GOOG GOOGL Google officially rolled out its Veo 2 model to users of the Gemini Advanced plan.
Details of the Release
After a limited four-month preview, Google has expanded access to its Veo 2 text-to-video generator as part of the $20/month Gemini Advanced subscription. This innovative tool enables users to create video clips in 720p resolution, lasting up to eight seconds, using natural language prompts.
Currently, Veo 2 only supports the 16:9 landscape format and outputs videos in MP4 format. Users can easily share their creations directly to platforms like TikTok or YouTube.
This advanced tool, powered by a large language model, excels in mimicking real-world physics and human motion, showcasing improvements over its earlier versions.
User Guidance and Features
CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted the capabilities of Veo 2 on X, sharing examples and stressing the importance of detailed prompts for better results: “Tip: the more detailed your description, the better.”
In addition, Veo 2 will be accessible via Whisk, an experimental AI app in Google Labs that enables users to animate their text and image prompts. Once fully rolled out, the video generation feature will support all the languages that Gemini accommodates.

Notably, last year, Amazon.com Inc. AMZN unveiled its AI-driven video tool for advertisers, marking its entry into this competitive arena, which also includes Adobe Inc.’s ADBE Firefly Video Model.
In October 2024, Meta Platforms Inc. META introduced Movie Gen, another tool designed to create videos, images, and audio from simple text prompts.
Additionally, Elon Musk, a co-founder of OpenAI and now the owner of Grok-parent xAI, has praised the effectiveness of Veo 2, highlighting its innovative features.
